
MEDIKAL UNVEILED AS AMBASSADOR FOR “RED MEANS STOP” ANTI-DRUG CAMPAIGN
On Thursday 12th March 2026, the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment officially unveiled award-winning Ghanaian musician Medikal as an ambassador for the nationwide “Red Means Stop” anti-drug campaign. The initiative seeks to curb drug abuse among the youth and promote healthier lifestyles through the power of music and positive influence.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo underscored the importance of engaging influential figures in the fight against drug abuse. He noted that musicians hold a unique position in shaping public opinion and inspiring young people, urging other artists to join the campaign to ensure its success.
He called on all musicians to come on board and encouraged them to use positive lyrics to inspire, uplift, and guide the youth away from destructive habits. Music should be a tool for hope not a promotion of drug use, the Minister noted.

Medikal’s involvement in the campaign was described as strategic, given his status as a role model to many young people across Ghana. His popularity and strong connection with the youth make him a powerful voice in spreading the message that drug and substance abuse is harmful and must be stopped.
The “Red Means Stop” campaign aims to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and inspire young people to make healthier lifestyle choices adding that Medikal expressed his commitment to the cause, pledging to use his influence to educate and motivate fans to stay away from drugs and substance abuse. He highlighted the need for collective action, stressing that the fight against drug and substance abuse requires a concerted effort across communities, schools and the entertainment industry.
The unveiling of the rapper marks a significant step in Ghana’s broader efforts to protect its youth from the devastating effects of drug and substance abuse. With Medikal at the forefront, the campaign hopes to harness the power of music to drive change and build a healthier future.
