CORPSAFRICA GHANA’S 4TH PITCH DAY CELEBRATES YOUTH INNOVATION AND COMMUNITY‑LED DEVELOPMENT
CorpsAfrica Ghana convened volunteers, development partners, philanthropists and government officials for its 4th Pitch Day event on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the British Council Auditorium. The gathering highlighted innovation, youth empowerment and the transformative power of volunteerism in advancing Ghana’s development agenda.
The event provided a dynamic platform for CorpsAfrica volunteers to present community‑based projects designed to address pressing local challenges, including health interventions, sustainable agriculture, and economic empowerment initiatives. Pitch Day aims to secure funding for innovative grassroots solutions, connect volunteers with development partners, and strengthen a culture of philanthropy while amplifying CorpsAfrica’s mission across the continent.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare Addo, the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mrs. Emma Ofori Agyemang, outlined the Ministry’s five strategic focus areas:
* Health and wellbeing
* Skills training and education
* Economic empowerment
* Civic education and community participation
* Personal development and leadership
She emphasized that volunteerism is central to national development, announcing that the Ministry will soon present a draft bill to Parliament to establish a comprehensive national framework for volunteerism. The absence of such a framework, she noted, has slowed the growth of volunteerism in Ghana. She further stressed the importance of certification as a key component in strengthening volunteerism, explaining that it provides recognition, credibility, and long‑term value for volunteers’ service.

Mrs. Agyemang also highlighted CorpsAfrica as a strategic partner whose work aligns closely with national priorities. Citing recent research showing that 72% of young people in Ghana wish to leave the country in search of opportunities abroad, she underscored the urgent need to create meaningful opportunities at home to retain talent and harness the potential of Ghana’s youth for national development.
CorpsAfrica Ghana’s Country Director, Jessica Musey, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to elevating youth voices and expanding opportunities for young leaders. She explained that Pitch Day was designed not only to secure funding for community projects but also to build partnerships that enable volunteers’ ideas to grow into impactful, sustainable solutions. “This platform allows us to connect volunteers with development partners and networks, ensuring that their innovative ideas can be transformed into impactful projects,” she said.

She further emphasized CorpsAfrica’s mission to nurture a new generation of African leaders dedicated to service, while promoting a culture of philanthropy that empowers communities to take charge of their own development.
The British Council Auditorium buzzed with excitement as volunteers confidently pitched their ideas to an audience of donors, NGOs, corporate representatives, and government officials. Several projects received commitments of support, reflecting the growing recognition of CorpsAfrica’s model of empowering communities through volunteer service.
The event served as a bridge between grassroots innovation and institutional support, reinforcing the belief that sustainable development requires collaboration across sectors. By connecting volunteers with networks and resources, CorpsAfrica Ghana is helping ensure that community‑driven solutions receive the backing they need to thrive.
By the close of the event, participants were inspired not only by the innovative projects presented but also by the collective spirit of partnership and generosity. CorpsAfrica Ghana’s 4th Pitch Day marked another milestone in advancing community‑led development and nurturing a new generation of African leaders.
The speeches, research insights, and project presentations all pointed to one powerful conclusion: Ghana’s youth are eager to contribute to national development and with the right support, they can transform communities and build a brighter future for the country.
